# What is Brila? [**Brila**](https://brila.finance/) is modular infrastructure for powering the next generation of decentralized finance from RWA lending to NFT liquidity. BrilaRWA connects lenders, borrowers, and portfolio managers via smart contracts governed by the [BRLA token](/brila-protocol/brla-token.md). Since its launch in November 2020, BrilaRWA (formerly TrueFi) has originated more than $1.7bn in loans to >30 borrowers and paid more than $40mm in interest to protocol participants.
